If you’re working full-time and thinking about going back to school, there are many things to consider. It can be tricky to figure out how to pay for school, where to find the time and whether the long-term benefits are worth the short-term sacrifice.
If this sounds like you, consider enrolling in a G3 program at one of Virginia’s Community Colleges. G3 tuition assistance covers the cost of school so that you have the financial freedom to pursue your dreams.
Read below to see answers to common questions about going to school while working full-time.
Does the Cost of School Come Out of My Paycheck?
If you meet all the G3 eligibility requirements, tuition assistance can help bring your eligible program costs down to $0 out of pocket.
G3 will provide you with the financial freedom to upgrade your skills and prepare you for the right career, right where you live, right now.
You may also receive additional financial assistance if you qualify for full Federal Pell Grants and enroll full-time. This additional assistance is intended to help offset costs outside of the classroom so you can focus on school without worrying about other expenses.
Where Will I Find the Time?
Virginia’s Community Colleges offer full-time and part-time enrollment options.
To receive G3 funding, you must enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours (about two classes) per semester or in an otherwise approved short-term program.
Will I Have to Travel?
Virginia has 23 community colleges located throughout the state. The program offerings will vary from college to college to match the local business needs in the community.
Because all of Virginia’s Community Colleges offer G3 programs, education is always nearby. Note that not every school offers every program. Find out which schools offer which programs here.
Is G3 Worth the Extra Effort?
The purpose of G3 is to connect you with in-demand jobs so that you can graduate and be ready for today’s job market. Enrolling in a program is one of the best ways to discover a new career path in Virginia.
Additionally, your school is here to help. At your local community college, there are student support services like the Career Center, which can help you find a job as you approach graduation.
