Affordable Education for Busy Adults: Why G3 is the Perfect Fit

G3 Adult Ed Blog

Thinking about going back to school as a parent or making a career change can feel overwhelming—especially when tuition costs are part of the equation. The enrollment process often raises crucial questions like, how am I going to make time for my family, job and school? and can I even afford to pursue higher education?

Fortunately, Virginia’s Community Colleges offer programs like G3 tuition assistance that are designed to address these concerns and make it easier for nontraditional students to take the next step towards their educational and career goals.

As the spring semester quickly approaches, now is the perfect time to start considering your path to higher education. If you’re thinking about going back to school but would like to learn more about affordable, flexible options, this blog is for you.

What is G3, and How Does it Help?

G3 is a tuition assistance program designed to remove financial barriers to higher education.

Offered at all 23 Virginia Community Colleges, G3 is for eligible Virginia students pursuing a career in one of six in-demand industries: Education, Healthcare, Hospitality & Culinary Arts, Information Technology, Public Safety and Skilled Trades, Manufacturing & Construction.

Each community college has a list of G3-approved programs to match the local business needs in the community, guaranteeing that students gain the skills and qualifications needed to meet the demands of the employers in their area.

The “last dollar” program considers all financial aid the student receives, then covers the difference, offering many students the opportunity to attend school for free or at a surprisingly low cost. G3 can also cover out-of-pocket expenses including fees and for textbooks.

Why Community College is the Perfect Fit for Your Needs

Whether you’re looking to make a career switch, or you’re a parent wanting to earn a degree, flexibility is an important factor in your decision. By enrolling in one of Virginia’s Community Colleges, you can take advantage of flexible scheduling options, including evening, hybrid and online classes, designed to fit around your busy life.

For students who need a smaller time commitment, you can also opt for a part-time schedule while still receiving G3 tuition assistance.

These flexible options allow you to balance work and family while pursuing your educational goals. Plus, with 23 community colleges offering 40 locations across the states, there’s likely a campus close to home, making it even easier to access the education you deserve without the extra commute.

Additionally, many of our community college campuses offer student resources such as tutoring, mental health services and childcare resources to help you succeed in every step of your educational journey.
